Welcome to the D.C. Courts' home page. The D.C. Courts, the
judicial branch of the District of Columbia government, are
comprised of the Court of Appeals, the highest court of the
District; the Superior Court of the District of Columbia,
a trial court with general jurisdiction over virtually all
local legal matters; and the Court System, which provides
administrative support functions for both Courts. The Joint
Committee on Judicial Administration is the policy-making
body for the D.C. Courts.
The mission of the District of Columbia Courts is to protect
rights and liberties, uphold and interpret the law, and resolve
disputes peacefully, fairly and effectively in the Nation's
Capital.

**NOTE: As part of the D.C. Courts' facilities improvement plans, the Indiana Avenue entrance to the Moultrie Courthouse will be closed from November 19 to December 22, 2008 so that an expanded covered secure entry can be constructed. The C Street entrance (the entrance facing the Newseum) and the Family Court entrance on the John Marshal Plaza will both be open to the public and should be used during that time.
The Courts are looking for a few good volunteers to serve in our Court Greeters Program. The program is designed to welcome court visitors as they enter the building and to assist them in getting to their destination. Training will be provided. For additional information, please click here.
